How do I check and Change freon on my heat pump?

Refrigerant only needs replaced if it is contaminated with other gasses other than what it is compsed of to begin with. Only a licenced contractor with proper training should be touching your system. Overcharging/undercharging can be done very easily. When that occurs your efficency goes down the toilet. Regular maintence is a must on refigeration systems to ensure that you keep as many problems as far away as possible.

u don't have to have a license to buy 134a freon witch most cars have and some of the new units .u can buy it at walmart,napa .auto zone ...etc the trick is knowing how much to add or if it needs adding! and u don't change freon it is a perment gas.the only time u add is after fixing a leak

it's not so much as checking the freon as it is to checking the pressures in the system. you need special gauges and you need to know how to read them and what to look for. also, you need to have a license to buy and handle freon.

Goto a profession mechnic. The freon in your car now could harm the Ozone Layer in our atmosphere,if you did it yourself.
