I just relocated to a different state and the one I came from did not offer anything but a standard diploma. We have a child with dyslexia and have been able to filter him completely out of special ed courses but from what I understand the tiered diplomas are given according to testing levels. Unfortunately my son's dyslexia causes great difficulty with standardized testing.

My son has a 3.0 average and has done that on his own. He works hard but we push him to work harder. The problem with an IEP is that it only gives them a crutch that they will not have in the real world. He has an IEP that teachers consider inactive that I won't let him use. His self confidence has greatly improved and he thrives in the classroom. I have seen too many Special Ed teachers doing the students work for them and the kids know it. Mine will not end up that way.
