Drugs. He didn't know how to shot very well, he shot up the wrong way ALL the time. Anthony Kiedis said in his biography: "John never learned how to properly administer an injection. He would just go for the old 'stab and poke' method hoping for the best." It's more from cocaine than from heroin, at least that was he said once. You need to shot cocaine every 5 minutes, tissue damage. You can note drug abuse one his nose too, have you seen John's pictures as a teenager? His nose changed a lot.

It was through drug abuse. He was literally at deaths door at one point, but the other boys managed to help get him back and now he's one of the best guitarists this world has ever produced.
You should read "Scar Tissue" by Anthony Keidis - it's a good read.

Having read Antony Keidis's biography I'm sure they'll be due to insane drug abuse and/or self harming as he went way off the rails at one point! You should definitely read the book- it's called 'Scar Tissue'.

they look like needle damage. probably where some veins collapsed or his skin got burned
