The key to conception is to have intercourse at the right time...when you are ovulating, which is only once during your cycle. And after the egg is released from the ovary it only lives for 12-24 hours--this is a very narrow window.
Do you know how to track ovulation and your cycles? If you don't pick up a copy of the book "Taking Charge of Your Fertiltiy" http://www.tcoyf.com . This book is amazing, and can tell you how to read the signs of fertility your body sends you every month. It also has a wealth of information on women's health that is just good to know. I have a copy and re-read it about every 3-4 months--It seriously will change your life.
You should also know that a couple is not considered "infertile" untill after a year of trying with out a conception. So don't loose hope.
As for having a "light period" when you are pregant. Yes, you can have this, it's called implantaion bleeding. But many times the start of your period can look like this too. The best thing would be for you to take a PG test and see for sure.
Good luck

Honey, dont feel bad that you haven't concieve yet I'm only 20 and I've been trying to conceive for two years now. 5 months is a very short time even though it doesn't seem like it, but you have to keep in mind that it takes the average healthy couple up to a year to concieve. Good Luck though I hope that you become pregnant soon.

It's possible.
if it's a brownish colour that usually means it's old blood that just didn't come out your last period or something like that.
my cousin had brown and it was just a really bad infection though.
you might as well take a pregnancy test, just don't get your hopes up because you don't want to be disappointed if you're not.

dont worry about what that first person said im sure she is no doc and doesnt know your medical history. doctors say to try for a year before you worry. There is only 12 to24 hrs a month you can get preg. not a big window of time. You see your egg dies that quick after ovu. so if there is no sperm waiting or if you dont have sex that day you missed that month. you should research charting your fertility. good luck

Even for a healthy couple it can take a year. Talk to your Dr at yur next visit about getting yourself and hubby tested. Check to see that you are ovulating every month...get aHSG done to check for blockages...and get hubby's sperm tested. Watch this period...if it stays brwon...you could be pregnant and that could just be implantation bleeding (which is dark brown because its the uterus lining where the embryo is making its new home)
