The Movie is fake, just a movie. The story is basically true, not about Heather & Josh, but, Ellie Kedwards was a real person who was accused of being a witch, tied to a tree and died, and Rustin Parr was also a real person, serial killer, killed seven children. The movie was taken so seriously because the guys that made it are real documentary film makers. They do great work, and then got luck with Blair Witch, cause it made them a ton of money. Go onto IMDB.com and check everything out about the film-makers, interesting stuff.
Oh, and it's not about the Bell Witch either, that is a totally different story and a totally different time period. Sorry.

I thought it was real the first time I saw it too.
When I found out that it was just a movie afterall, I had even more respect for the movie because I felt that the acting was VERY convincing, which makes for a good film!
The Bell Witch story, however, is very real! You might like to look it up if you enjoy ghost stories!

The movie was only a movie, but the legends and stories about the Blair witch are real...I have a cousin who lives 5 miles from where the person was supposed to have lived.

When it first came out, a friend of mine got pretty panicky over it. I asked if he'd seen anything about it on the News. Of course he hadn't. Had it been real, we'd see it on the News, long before seeing it in a movie theater! -Think about that. That's what made War of the Worlds so scary. People heard it on their radios, and mistook it for a real News broadcast! Not so with the BW Project.

no, they pretended. The kids actually had more friends in on it! Then they went in hiding, to make out like they were really dead! THen they came out, and ppl knew it was a lie! In the movie, when you hear all the stuff and screams in the back, those are extra kids in the woods, scaring their friends. So they could be really scared! Good job I think, but naw, it's fake! now...the legend of the blar witch....that might be real... da da dum dum duuummm!

It was just a movie that was portraying the legend of the Bell Witch. An American Haunting also portrays that same legend.

No.
If you actually watched the movie, a key element is missing... a witch. What a bunch of junk.. the first and the second one. The first one was unwatchable, the second one is junk.
