found out there is a warrant out for felony misuse of credit card for me in ohio, however, i have never lived there, been there, nor do i know anyone that lives there. i definitely didnt do the crime!!!! called and was confirmed that a warrant is in my name, however i talked to someone about how it is ID theft, and how i have proof of living in a totally different state, in another part of the country. some secretary told me that i need to come there and turn myself in, but when i talked to someone else they told me to just talk to someone in fraud/theft and they will try to straighten it out so i wouldnt have to (live in louisiana). i am also pregnant, so i don't want to go there and have to go to jail since i am almost 7 months along!! scared out of my mind!! should i just go to a lawyer and see what (s)he can do??? not sure where to go. filed a report with ftc.gov and fraud alerts. should i have to turn myself in when i didnt do it??

You need an attorney as noted. Relax they aren't going to come and get you in La. for a misuse charge in Ohio. DON"T turn yourself in WITHOUT an attorneys advice this would be a big mistake. The warrant can be quashed (removed) by the judge that issued it. You have a bigger problem dear someone is using your name for stealing and if they did it once they did it twice etc. Get a credit report from all three agencies (this is free) Good Luck you going to need it alas....

Check things like -Do they have your correct birthdate. Contact an attorney, etc On the dates in question can you provide proof you were somewhere else? Like a time card at work in LA? How did you find out about this?

turn yourself in and get a good lawyer. it will look very suspicious if you avoid arrest and will go against you. tell them that you are innocent but are turning yourself in to be co-operative with the law. next get statements from banks etc, and people who can testify that you weren't where they said you were, for example your boss, if you were at work. (cctv footage, withdrawals from your bank or phonecalls at times you couldn't possibly have made them ie $50 withdrawal in texas at 12.15pm, $20 withdrawal from your bank in louisiana at 12.20pm etc will help too) i think you stand an excellent chance. good luck.
