The only man even conceivably qualified to do this is Colin Powell. He has both the military background and the diplomatic skills to pull it off.
Everybody else is just an armchair general, no better than Bush himself. Even John McCain - too much of a loose cannon to manage so delicate an effort.

The candidate that understands this war has existed before bush and is bigger then just Iraq. The candidate that understands even arab/non-arab countries are being destroyed by radical islamists.
I predict that if the democrats don't figure this out they will have lost the election before it has even started.Ohhh YEAH.The candidate that understands that we need working visas for illegal mexicans and not amnesty will win.The candidate that understands radical islamists are really a threat to the world and continues to battle that threat .If anyone truly believes that if we stop battling the radicals islamists that war will stop.I have the empire state building for sale for a dolla;) Victory in Iraq will be giving the Iraqi people a stable goverment and stabilizing the middle east from radical islamists.MARK MY WORD,If a democrat wins in 2008 .You will hear that democrat speak of Iran and how we must defeat that threat, not of bushes making for the lefties, check history of iran, you can blame both parties as well as radical islam.

The Iraqi people. No U.S president can achieve victory in Iraq. We can help support and protect a democratic run nation but in order for a democratic nation to succeed the people of Iraq have to embrace the separation of church and state. If the U.S continues to back a democratic state
the U.S will lose many more American soldiers no Current president can do that now. only the Iraqi people can and the Civil war in Iraq is the true war . And this war has just began and will last a long time. which ever idealization wins will be the victor in Iraq

Define "victory". What parameters would have to be met to call it a victory?
I suppose in some sense it depends on what "our" goal was going in. If it was to get rid of WMD, we failed because they weren't there anyway. If it was to attack terrorism, we failed because terrorism is not a place that can be conquered. If was to unseat Saddam, we accomplished that very early on. If it was to destroy the then Iraqi government and its ability to make war, we did that already. If it was to impose democracy, that's an unattainable goal. It already had "peace", and I'm not sure you can impose peace in Iraq again without putting in another dictator and backing that with military support.
So, tell me what "victory" would look like and I'll provide my answer.

If we're still there when Bush leaves that would mean the situation would be even worse, so I don't know if victory at that point would even be possible.

that's a good question.
Hillary, even though i wouldn't vote for her, might be able to do that. she comes off as cold, and that is probably because she seems to have a highly logical mind.
Rudy, maybe. he did great on the crime rate in New York. so he's already had experience in this regard.
Obama is too inexperienced.
McCain, don't know enough about him to say.
other than that, beats me.
