Hi,

There are quite a few resorts all within a 2hour drive of the airport. Chamonix, Morzine, Avoriaz, Flaine, Les Gets and Samoëns are a few that are on the French side of the Alpes.
It all depends on what you are looking for in the resort. Flaine is about an hour away and offers fantastic skiing and off piste. It has a terrain park but its was not that good last season.

Chamonix is in the valley next door to Flaine and you will be able to ski off onte Blanc, the highest Peak in the Alpes. Both these resorts had great snow last year as of there high elevation.

Morzine and Avoriaz are right next door to each other and if you are a serious freestyle boarder or skier this is the place to hit up. Avoriaz more so. It has some of the best terrain parks in the Alpes and there are plenty of urban spots to hit at night when the lifts are closed!

Les Get had a good snow record last year and also boasts some good terrain parks.

I hope this helps. Rida safe

But depending on your nationallity you will need a visa. If you are South African you can visit Switzerland without a visa. If you do head that way you should head for Zermat or Saas Fee. They are a much further out from Geneva but well worth the trek.

The French alps and swiss resorts such as Verbier are equally as far. Verbier is one of the most liked resorts in all of Switzerland but you'll end up paying a good deal more. You'll notice there are tons of English people there but there is definitely plenty to do and the skiing is good. As of lately the snow conditions have been horid but the snow has been coming down hard for the last 2 days. I suggest either Verbier or a french alp resort such as Avoriaz, Flaine, Megève or Chamnoix. There is plenty to chose from.

Portes de Soleile is a brilliant area and the largest in Europe. You can ski all day without covering the same ground. You can go from France into Switzerland down a black run called the wall. Its a lot of fun and Avoriaz, which is part of the system has a half pipe. Stay at Morzine or Avoriaz. Avoriaz is in the midst of the skiing and is mainly self catering apartments.

Les Rousses, Lelex or Premanon are all within one hours drive from Geneva. A taxi ride away, or a hire car for a few days. I suspect there are bus transfers, but not from the airport. You must try some of the yellow Jura wine as well. If you go there, let me know if it was good.

Try Grenoble or Verbier, they're not too far off and especially Verbier is good fun!
