I am sick of hearing it too. I know that there are not that many black coaches in the NFL but the reason that the coaches have made it all the way is because they are good coaches, not because they are black. They are talented men. I would bet that the coaches are sick of hearing it too. It almost makes it sound like they don't deserve to be successful. Just let them enjoy their accomplishment and leave race out of it!

I feel you on this one. I am a black woman and I am really tired of hearing the first black to do this and the first black to do that. People really need to get over this 60's mentality. If he was the best man for the job - he was the best man for the job. I am sure they did not just pick him to be coach for the color of his skin but for his knowlege of the game - he just happened to be black.
I guess they just have to make that statement for the record books - you know when they ask on millionaire - who was the first black coach to win the Superbowl. I guess it does serve that purpose but nothing more.

I do understand and agree with you. I'm part African-American and I think too much has been made of it. Here we are in the 21st Century, and we should be just celebrating either one of the winning teams and not just the race of the coaches! The media is doing this because it's history making -- that's all! Get it?!

It's just that it has never happened before. Despite the large number of professional black athletes, very few make it into the back office. It's news because it highlights how rare an occurance this is. Next time it happens you won't hear a word said about it.

At least none of them have asked this question yet:
"How long have you been a black coach?"
Like they did to Doug Williams in the Superbowl vs. the Broncos (22 or 23, I think). Someone actually asked him how long he'd been a black quarterback, to which he responded "All my life". lol

It is kind of stupid. But thinking back to the times when african americans were only considered 3/5 of a person...I guess the media feels that blacks have come a long way.
GO COLTS!!!!

People like to start problems. They just want to make it a race issue then a lot of attention will be brought to it, thus, people will watch it, leading to money. That's all it is about money, money, money, and some more money.
