I don't know why people do that. I think you should loOK at the individual for their actions. If they act stupid then OK, if they are lazy ok, but not all of one race acts a certain way. I don't think it is right and I will fight against it for the rest of my life. I am Caucasian and my husband is African-American. I hate the way he is treated sometimes by white people and he hates the way I am treated sometimes by African-American people. Can't we jut all get along?

Although I think race is still a huge issue in America, I feel like we, as a country, are getting a lot better. Sure, there are some ignorant people that will always look down on someone that is different than them, but I think the amount of people that still think that way is dwinding.

As a woman, I still have thoughts that men look down on women. But I know this is improving as well. A lot of white people, like myself don't understand your way of thinking, simply because we have never been scrutinized like you have....but it does hurt that there are so many black people that think we are out to get them, and that is not the case.

Bottom line, the world is getting better. For the first time, a woman and an african-american have an EXCELLENT shot at becoming president. Doesn't this show that there is progress?

I feel like blacks have struggled through more than I can begin to understand, but I don't see how people keep coming back to this...saying that whites are treating you like your are nothing. In some cases, I know it's true. But if you still think this way, you will never change your way of thinking. You will always think white people are looking down on you, when the reality is-it never crosses are mind, we don't look at you differently.

Now I've got to stress that not all white ppl do that, there are alot of good white ppl out there too. We've got to learn how to stop lumping individuals into one stereotype but.....

WOW! Look at how upset some ppl got at this question. Yet it's okay for ppl to post stuff that demeans black culture! Unbelieveable! Like I've said before ppl that act like that are so stuck in their old ways that they don't even realize they're doing it. Like the ppl that keep posting, "stop the racism talk" they're just a part of that portion that wishes that what happened to blacks would just go away and be totally forgotten. As a nation we can't allow that to happen,if we do, history's bound to repeat itself, so they should just get over that! If you really wanna know why honey, I suggest you buy a book called The Isis Papers. She'll break it down for you! Now lets see how much hate I get on this comment.

With all due respect, we get blamed for racism all the time! Look at what happened to Micheal Richards. He felt sorry for saying the "N" word (see, I didn't even feel comfortable typing it out) but the black people who shouted "CRACKER!" at him didn't get put down at all. So honestly I don't understand why you say that we get blamed for nothing.

As for your question, I think it goes back to a lot of the old time ways passing through generations. The people who were alive and kept slaves and treated them badly had family and they carried that mentality along the bloodline. Also it doesn't help that a lot of the black icons on television are rappers and hip hop stars who just sing about b!+ches, bling, and money.

Mostly though it's the mentaily that something different is scary and something to be feared. Instead of finding out for themselves, they just decide that black people are all criminals and/or dumb and don't open up their mind any further than that. Sadly, coming from a small midwestern town, I see a lot of that. People who are too scared to even leave their crappy little town behind don't have much chance at accepting people for who they really are. Needless to say, I'm glad I got out of there! ;D

anyone who looks down on someone for the color of their skin is ignorant and racist. I for one don't do that. But i also don't really see this as being a white world. And if I even think about doing something wrong I get trouble.lol But then again I don't have money. And that is what truly divides this world. You have the rich people and people like me.

This is one of the most unproductive questions ever. Why don't you ask why the sky is blue or why stop signs have eight edges. I'm white and I am extremely tired of hearing "your just doing that because i'm black" no one picks on any other race until they bring attention to themselves. I am really tired of having all of my scholarship applications overlooked because in the race column I can't put Asian or African American. From now on I'm going to circle other and write down Swiss American or some other line of BS

I've lived in Oakland, Ca and worked there too and there is a large black population. I have found the blacks I've worked with to be equal if not better educated than me and my many white coworkers so most of us don't think that way.

I believe white people are just intimidated by blacks. They are the best athletes, they are cooler than whites, and with the same opportunities as whites, they are excelling in professions that were historically dominated by white men. Old white men are losing their monopoly in this world so they hate everyone for it.....

How can you say that, have you met "most people"? and by the way, I am neithe Afro-American, or Caucasian. Don't tell me Bush doesn't get blamed for anything? All people are equally biased against others, we just don't get the media attention...

White people are actually a minority in the world. Most people simply believe what they hear or what they're taught without investigating or asking questions. Unfortunately, I think racism in one form or another will always be with us. I'm sorry.
