mash your stapler a few times and use the collapsed staples to form a chain.
have you put your christmas lights away yet? wind a strand in the hair, plug it in for additional effects.
elmer's glue,

How long's your hair?
I've seen some people put their hair up with a pencil before, although I could never do it (my hair's past my butt, too long for that!). You don't really want to use a rubber band, that would hurt. Try braiding it back enough just to get it out of your face. That may work for a little while...

If your hair is long enough, use a section of your own hair and twist it around the rest of the hair as tightly as you can and then tuck the end in to hold it.
Or if your hair is curly, you could twist into a messy bun and tuck the ends in, and it will stay on its own.
If those don't work, use a pen or pencil.

Don't use a rubber band, you'll only rip your hair out. Trust me.
Try a twist tie, like you'd get off a loaf of bread. Or maybe a pipe cleaner, like you'd make little kid art from. That might work.

What about one of those big black paper clippy things that you use for a huge stack of paper? Not sure what they are called, but we have every size here. Or yeah, go with the pencil/pen idea!

Twirl it into a bun and stick a pencil through it, it will fall appart a few times but it does the trick.

a pen twist your hair like you are gonna use i claw clip and use the pen to hold it up. i do that all the time at work
