The yes board really does work keep away from it they can really screw with your mind, the subconsious mind controls it.If the situation is right you don't even have to have your finger on the glass but this can take hours, and most people get bored by then and start messing about that's why most people say it does not work, some test's done in the dark where wrong because even the subconscious mind cannot see in the dark. They were band in Britain. But my brother bought one in new york, teenagers are often attracted to them and my teenage son started using it to apoint were he was band from using it, do not take them likely and do not believe anything they tell you, when i was a teenager after a strong session on the board, the next day i kept knocking in to things and by the end of the day i was covered in bruises, the mind is a very strong force do not play with it

Look at it this way. If they don't work its just you and your friends fooling yourselves by moving the speculum subconsciously. If they do, you have a whole world of trouble in store. If you successfully contacted a spirit how would you know you can trust it? After all, most of the evidence for the existence of spirits, poltergeists in particular, describes entities who only seek to cause harm. Do you want one of those paying attention to you?
Take my advice as someone who has long studied divination, if you want to ask the universe a question, get your tarot cards read. There are plenty of other ways to experience fortune telling that don't involve inviting dangerous spirits into your home. Historically, ouija boards cause nothing but trouble. Leave them well alone. The truth is usually inside you, anyway. Show some maturity and don't meddle with things you don't understand just because your friends do.

Ouija boards should be taken off the market so that people like you and your friends don't end up in, WAY over your heads.
Only mischievous and vengeful spirits ever come through a ouija board if a trained medium is not conducting the seance.
I have seen great physical harm come to people dabbling in the occult. Burns, scratches and yes, it's true, negative spirits that won't leave the property on which the seance was held unless the house is properly exorcised by a trained professional.
You've done the right thing by asking first, now do the right thing and FORGET IT!!!

Yes they do. They shouldnt be sold in toy stores! And I dont buy that garbage about subconscious eyeball movements and all that. I've done it with my eyes closed, and I never looked at the board because I thought the same thing, and it still worked... unless I can subconsciously see through closed eyelids. And i did it once with my girfriend at the time who also though Ouija boards were bogus. Neither of us has touched one since. We gave it away and that same night there was a fatal car crash in the front yard of the person we gave it to. No joke.
Whatever they are, stay far away. They are trouble.

Personally I subsribe to the Ideomotor effect theory - ie that users of ouija boards make motions subconsicously and make the glass on the baord move to what they want it to move to, without realising there is no real "spirit" guiding the board at all. I've tried it, and its all a load of hokum. Some people believe though.

They do reckon that the participants are SUBCONSCIOUSLY moving the glass.
Spirits are a load of rubbish. It's nonsensical to believe this. I mean , Arthur Conan Doyle and Houdini never made contact did they?
But I will say, that Ouija boards are serious bad news and you should NOT mess with them. It's superstitious drivel.

Yes they work, but you have no way of knowing who you are talking to! Playing with the board will open a door that for you will be hard to close. If you are scared then do no mess with it, trust your instincts and do what is best for you no matter what your friend says.

if i was you I'd leave it well alone. it's OK i the hands of someone who knows what they're doing but it can be very dangerous in the hands of a novice.
i used to believe it was a load of rubbish until one night we had a serious amount of drink at a party. someone suggested we give it a go. we set up a board and used a coin as the pointer. we where laughing away like drains until the coin started to move about. someone started to ask it questions and it seemed to single out my best mate as if it knew him. it claimed to be his grandfather who had just recently died at the time. it answered his questions and told him things that only he knew. this put him into a rage and he went on a bit of a wrecking spree which nobody could stop. (take into account that he was about 5 ft 2 and 8 st in weight).
after he came out of the rage a lot of things seemed to go wrong in his life. this culminated in a suicide attempt which thankfully failed. he had serious mental problems for about a 3 month period after the attempt but has thankfully come into something like his old self.
if i was you I'd be afraid too. dint play with it as it's a serious bit of equipment and shouldn't be used as a plaything.
it proved to me that spirits do exist so please take my word for that.
