I'm personally a vegetarian because it is so much more efficient than it is to eat meat. We're currently cutting down rainforests to make grazing land for cattle, and diverting rives in the western United States to create artificial farm lands and supply water for agriculture again to feed cattle.
It takes over 2,000 gallons of water to produce a pound of beef, or 441 if you want to listen to the highly biased cattle industry. Add that to the 15 pounds or so of grain that go into each pound of meat. When there are starving people in other countries, and the world population is increasing at an exponential rate, I find it hard to justify why one needs to eat animal meat.
Also, our bodies function very well without the consumption of domesticated animal meat, and the environment would be better off with less farms, too. The pollution that is released is pretty astounding, when you consider all of the run off .
Of course, vegetarianism is not for everyone, but if you do it right it is healthy--not only am I the only vegetarian in my family, I am the only woman not suffering from iron deficiency--and environmentally conscious. People should at least try to cut back on their meat intake, particularly red meat. Every little bit helps!

Right from time immemorial man has been non veg.Early men lived on both roots and flesh. The new theory that meat is harmful is questionable as people even 30 / 40 years back were eating non veg and had never heard of cholestrol or cancer.Have both in moderation but it depends upon each ones religion and choice.Best is to have a proper balanced diet which includes both but more of veggies.

Human beings are omnivorous, and that's what they should be.
Meat and vegetables have their merits and demerits. Meat has some side effects while vegetables lack some nutrients (animal protein is better in quality than vegetable protein) But if you avoid one you would miss something.
So it's better to take both with vegetables much more in quantity.

There is no such thing as vegetarian or non-vegetarian
It's all in your head.
by the way the best food for humans is :-
vegetables
fruits
nuts
and cold water fishes (Cod, Salmon, Tuna etc etc.)
Stay away from : Sugar, Cold Drinks, red meat, processed foods, trans fats, rich foods like butter chicken :) and deep fried foods.
so if you think like japs and consider eating fish as vegetarian than you are a vegetarian
if you want a super healthy life ahead when everyone else will be coughing, dying, hypertensed etc etc....

vegetariansm is ideal for the mind to be at peace even when the outside world is choatic. Non-veg means butchering other species which have the same rights as humans to live in this planet. Veg is also healthy and you get the same vitamins from veg as in non-veg. Veg food does not give you undue aggresive behaviour and allows peaceful coexistence. If you are spiritually inclined veg food is ideal

why do humans have Canine teeth .They are pointed teeth that help in shearing food like flesh eating animals.
we also have incisors , are so called because they help to incise food , like how vegetarian animals have.
so by logic we are Omnivirous .
