A cat came into my backyard with my dogs and they killed it. I think I know who the cat belongs to but I am nervous about telling them what happened. I would want to know but I am afraid of them doing something like poisoning my dogs in revenge. I would want to know and I would totally buy them a new cat. I feel horrible and I don't know what to do. Pleeeeease Help!

You can call the humane society for free and ANON,and ask them? I'd hate to get your dogs in trouble, or be afraid they might be poisoned. He will miss his cat but its already dead.Animal Control can say they got a tip that it was dead, without mentioning how or your name. They can help! Try this?
I feel so bad for you and you are in a tough place
and good luck whatever you decide to do.

Hey Jessica -- the cat was a stray if it wandered from owner. U r not responsible for it. The dogs probably protected the yard. U r doing right taking on this job! Telling some 1 is good but not in a way U may get hurt. U might call animal control so owner can b found. If U believe cat belongs 2 some 1 they can handle it. U do not need 2 tell owner esp if U feel they may retaliate. U want 2 do the right thing But U don't need 2 replace cat! Hope this helps.

The best thing to do is tell the person. The cat risked itself by going into your yard with dogs there. Did you keep the body? you may want to offer that you would get the remains cremated. Just be honest and explain your concerns to the owner. I am sure things will work out.

1st of all they hsould not be allowing there cat outside for this very reason. Don't feel sorry or horrible is there neglect that led to there cats death had they kept it indoors like they should it wouldn't of died. But tell them you found there cat dead because they let it outside and it wondered into your yard where it shouldn't of been

Try writing them a letter instead of talking to them face to face.
