When we were pregnant with our third baby I realized that the first initials of our names were DECA. And then the only name my husband would agree to name our third was Lily. So now our names spell the word DECAL. Now I'm starting to think "should we continue to spell a word with the rest of our kids?" Is that silly to think? I don't know what else we could add but a "S" and make the word DECALS or there's the word DECALOG or DECALOGUE. By the way this wasn't planned at all it's just how it happened. Does anyone else spell words with their names, or have some kind of system for naming their kids?

I only plan on having 1-2 more kids, 3 more would be the very very very most. But 1-2 sounds most reasonable.

Just how many kids do you plan to have, anyway? By the way if you go backward, you can spell "LACED" so you could use another name that begins with P and that could grow to REPLACED.

I have heard of a family who's last name was actually a first name. (such as Susan). They named all their kids with first names that could be last names. That's the only theme I know about other than using the same first initial.

It's kinda silly, but who cares? I've known people who named their kids with names that all started with the same letter even if they had to spell the names weird. As long as you don't give your child a stupid sounding name that will embarrass them then I see no reason not to continue.

I think that would be cute if you spelled a word with the names in your family! I think the same letter starting a name is old. But making a word is a GREAT idea! Try it! Good luck with your family!

It's your family, not a game of Scrabble. There's no triple-word-score for what cute acronym your kids' names make, so I think you should just go ahead and forget about building onto DECAL and just name the baby whatever you want.

I've thought about spelling a word or nickname with initials, but since my husband thinks it's cheesy, I'd have to "sneak it in." He liked Deborah Elizabeth when I mentioned it and our last name does start with B...

Sounds okay to me. I had a friend growing up whose family was all named first and middle names that began with "M." As their last name was Mattson, all had the initials MMM.

sure why not have the kids names spell stuff out.
most of my cousin-in-laws (the girls) initials are KKK (not joking).

also my dad initals spell "M.A.D.", and when my mom was married to him, her initals were "D.A.D." we used to say that "dad was MAD, because mom was DAD"
