Many (but not all) of them are fundamentalist Christians. And as we all know, the fundamentalist Christians think that anyone who doesn't think like they do is lacking in morals.

My liberal beliefs stem from my sense of morality and anyone who says that I am "immoral and depraved" is either looking for an argument or really, seriously mentally ill!!!

There's big difference between wanting to act in a moral manner and just being depraved. Surely, nobody who tries to be moral is perfect in that regard. But, willingness and effort mean a lot.
If you don't try to have standards, how can you be measured?

It's not that claim moral superiority. We are all human, imperfect and fallible. It's the complete lack of any morals or core values from liberals that demands our criticism.
Consider yourself illuminated.

Generally speaking, conservatives don't believe in murdering unborn children. They also don't believe in enslaving people in immoral social programs. Liberals, generally speaking, are in favor of these things.
I think it would be safe to say that someone that opposes murder and slavery would be morally superior to someone that supports murder and slavery. But that is my humble opinion.

It is based on the same factual basis as the liberal belief they are more intelligent than the rest of us.
Your condemnation of others for doing the same thing you are is quite hypocritical.

either it is a guilty conscience, as someone else said, or they are just so simple-minded that they actually think issues like gay marriage are the most important moral issues around
