Simon said in an interview that he talks to the people ahead of time and says that most of them won't be good enough to go through and to expect to be picked on and to fight back a little bit. He didn't want anyone to just say thank you and walk off. He wanted them to stay and argue. I suppose it's better for the ratings.

I don't know how they see themselves but it is ruthless that we allow a show to succeed when it makes fun of people in such a mean and demeaning way. There should be auditions before and only the realistic candidates should be allowed on to show filmed auditions. Who,but the worst of us, enjoys seeing people humiliated and hurt? It's not funny and it's not entertaining.Write letters and let us shame Idols into a humane approach. Americans take up for the less fortunate; we don't kick them when they try to get up. Do we?????

don't like and do not watch American Idol. no longer some thing strong as ever come from that coach. I open up my information paper this morning (cases-Picayne) and get to residing area and they have some thing about new choose named Kara DioGuardi who's supposedly a singer-songwriter. as far as songwriting i'm effective she is ideal up there with Leiber/Stoller, Lennon/McCartney, Townshend, Glimmer Twins. absolutely, surely they have seen the show, or they wouldn't want to be on it right. I think a lot of them know they really can't sing, and just use this as an opportunity to get on television, they know they always show the worst auditions. If someone does really badly on the auditions, but they want a career in singing, they should take the remarks of Paula, Simon, and Randy to get voice lessons, or try again another year.

no..it is one thing to be slammed for singing and quite another to be insulted for physical disabilities you can't help. Kenneth briggs (bush baby) had aarskog syndrome which casues facial deformities and short stature and mental retardation in 30% of the case. For more on my opinion see my answer here.

No, I really think that Simon what's his name and the ugly Abdul chick need to stop with the put downs and give constructive criticism. What would you think that they would do if someone took their put downs to heart and took it out on themselves or worse other people?

After 5 seasons? One would think so. But I think we have some twisted folks out there that really think they can sing and they really think the judges are being mean.
