my 1985 chevy s10 blazer will not stay running,
it has tbi (throttle body injection) and i recently ran it out of fuel, since then it will not stay running. i have replaced both the fuel filter and mechanical fuel pump. i've put gas in it... when i spray starter fluid in the area of the "carborator" it idles as it should, then stalls. this would lead you to possibly think maybe a vacuum issue, but i see no cracked or corroded or disconnected hoses.
what could be the problem??? thank you!!!

I have done the same thing before, I feel your pain. From what I remember you sit in the drivers seat, Turn the Ignition to the on position (DO not start), then off then back off. I did that about 10 to 20 times to prime the lines to the injector body. Try starting normally then, If it don't start do it again but a few fewer times.

First clue-you ran out of gas. You may have sucked in the trash at the bottom of the tank. You need to disconnect the fuel line at the tank and at the fuel filter and blow air through it and make sure it is clear. If you still have the problem you may have to remove the tank and have it cleaned at the local radiator shop.

Two things come to mind here. First, if it's got a carburetor on it, the carb could be out of whack and need both cleaned as well as rebuilt. Second, if it's fuel injected, the injectors may need some T.L.C. along with the fuel deliver line and fuel return line. Other than that, it could be just as simple as a tune up and oil change too.

does the vehicle have an inline filter mounted inside the bottom of the carb housing. the older chevies had a paper type one that was always getting plugged.

sounds to me you have lost the prime you have a air bubble in the system you have to bleed the system put a cap of gas in your carb and let it run do not push on the pedal just let it get its prime back
