No and no. Prenups would be good if one or both of you had millions and millions of dollars. Otherwise, you are just "pre-planning" your divorce.

It's not "necessary" but very popular these days. Different situations call for different things. I recently got married for the 1st time and brought some money (no real estate) into the marriage and she didn't bring much (we're both pretty young), but I still didn't. It probably couldn't hurt but get some help writing it from a lawyer because even if it's in writing and both of you sign it, that doesn't mean it will be enforceable if you ever had to "use it". Good luck!

i would say it is definitely necessary, you can all say you are supposed to stay together but in the real world things happen, and when people get divorced it gets nasty, you end up losing way more than you thought ,including lawyer fees, imagine losing your family home to your ex wife just because you didnt have a prenup, or maybe it will get you talking before marriage, what if later on your wife (or husband) decides that her kid and not yours should inherit everything when you two die, you want to protect your kid if you can, what if she spends all her money on putting her kid through college, leaving none for your's? it can happen

Prenups are for people who come into a marriage with a lot of money, an eventual inheritence, or a lot of assets. If you come into a marriage with little then they are pretty much a waste. You will most likely split what you accrued during your marriage if their is a divorce anyway. I think they are voided anyway once you co mingle your assets if you do.

No, it's not necessary unless you have assets valued in the millions.

Don't pressure anyone into signing a prenup. A prenup is designed to protect you in case your marriage fails. Why start off the marriage with a paper that say ....just in case.....?

If your fiance is asking you to sign it, you go and get your own attorney to discuss whether it is necessary and if it is fair. Never sign a legal document (including a marriage license!) without understanding and agreeing to the terms.

No, it's not necessary, and no, I would NEVER sign one.

You're supposed to be getting married forever. What's the point of starting a relationship that's based on the plans for how to dissolve it?
