Has anyone ever done Invitro? I am planning to do it probably by next month. I will have a consultation with my doctor, but I would like to hear about it from someone who has already done it. How long is the process. I know that my insurance covers two cycles for invitro, but I have to pay for the medication and the process to freeze the embryo, and that might be about 4500$ But I believe it is worth a shot. I have been trying for over a year, and I have done many cycles of IUIs with injectibles. According to my doctor, there is no specific target with me or the problem, so they are very positive about Invitro. Any thoughts?

Wow, you lucky duck to have insurance that covers a few cycles! Most people don't, so you are fortunate.

My son, who is almost 9 months old is thanks to IVF. :-) :-) If your consultation is next month, you probably won't get the nitty gritty part of your cycle done for a few months. You will have to do a few prelim tests, and then perhaps a month of downtime where you may or may not take birth control pills to regulate your cycle, and then you will start the lupron injections. Then you will add the stimulation drugs, at which point you will be monitored at first every few days, and then every day. Most women stim for about 10 days or so. Then they will do your retrieval, and either three days later, or five days later, they will transfer the selected number back to your uterus. And then you wait!

I would say from consult to retrieval and transfer will be 2-3 months.

I highly suggest that you find some resources other than Yahoo Answers. The board I belonged to during my cycles (it took three tries) was www.fertilethoughts.com

Good luck! I suggest you learn AS MUCH as you can ahead of time, and take it one day at a time...

Wow, How exciting! I have not done it however, I had a girlfriend who did. The first invitro was not successful so they had to do it a second time. She now has triplets! I guess I say that to say, don't be discouraged if it "doesn't happen" the first time. Every dollar you spend will be worth it at the end of the day when you have a happy little healthy smiling face looking into your eyes!

I wish you much success in the process and many blessings!
