mass is the amount of substance that an object has - it never changes.
weight is the force of gravity orking on that substance - this is why things weigh differently on different planets.

weight depends on gravity and is measured as pressure, i.e. the pressure of the body being pulled by gravity. Pounds is a measure of pressure.

mass does not depend on gravity and is measured by comparing it to another mass with the same forces (e.g. gravity) on each, like with a balance scale.

mass is how much space something takes up and weight is how much it, well, weighs.

a wad of cotton balls can take up a lot of space and has a lot of mass, but can weigh less than a lead thimble.

know what i mean??
