I stayed at the Courtyard Marriott. It was nice and the cheapest I could find. It's about 2 blocks from Boston Common.
Check out the AAA rate for an even bigger discount.

Hi:
I've been travelling to Boston and staying in the Brookline Marriott at 40 Webster street in Brookline. It is a very nice area, and there are a lot of shops and restaurant/bars within easy walking distance, and there is a T (light rail) stop within a block on Beacon Street. I think the normal nightly rates are about 189 a night. This spot is about a mile or so away from Fenway Stadium, and the area is really beautiful. Taxis are also just about everywhere, too, so you can catch one of those to get around. Do a yahoo hybird satellite map to see the area if you want. Hope this helps.

Well anything in the downtown area is really fairly nice, but you'll pay a lot as well. I would just shop for where can give you the best deal. The Radisson Boston is right downtown, and often has lower rates than some of the other hotels. It is in the theater district.

Hotel Buckminster is an older hotel in Kenmore Square, rooms overlooking Fenway Park, only a few steps to the T. They are also really affordable (like, $80 during the week, don't know weekends) and the rooms are nice. When my mother visited, she even got upgraded to a suite for free.

The Copley Hotel and the Sheraton are right in Copley Square, in the center of it all, but they're on the pricey side. A cheaper alternative is the Mid-Town Hotel, which is still in the heart of everything, and very close to the T (the local subway).

I agree, the Midtown Hotel is reasonably priced... not as much of a "luxury hotel" as some but if you're going to be sightseeing all day anyway, it's fine. It's safe, has a pool and is across the street from the subway.
