My brother said he doesn't like either team, so he wants it to end in a tie. i told him it couldn't happen....that whom scores first in OT wins....he didn't believe me.

No. The Super bowl or any post season game can not end in a tie.
Here is from wikipedia
"In the National Football League, an additional period is played, and the game ends when one side scores by any method. In the regular season, if the score remains even at the end of one extra period, the game is declared a tie; in the playoffs, the game continues until a winner is determined"

No, unlike regular season NFL games, the Super Bowl (or any playoff game for that matter) can not end in a tie. Multiple overtime periods will be played until one team finally scores. To my knowledge there has never been a Super Bowl that ended regulation in a tie forcing overtime.

No the super bowl and playoff games play a 15 minute sudden death overtime. Which means the first team to score wins. If they dont do it in the overtime, they do it again. No Super Bowl or playoff game has gone past one overtime. A regular season game can end in a tie if no one scores in overtime. IT happens every few years or so.

No the SuperBowl cannot end in a tie. IN the preseason and regular season a game CAN end in a tie. In these games the rule is that there will be only one 15-minute sudden death period. After that, if no team scores then the game ends in a tie. Playoffs are basically play until someone scores.

Football actually never ends in a tie, in case of a tie at the end of the fourth quarter the game goes into overtime. During over time the first team to get any type of point, a touchdown, fieldgoal, saftey anything gets the points and wins the game. That rule is also used during a super bowl game.

You are right, there must be a clear winner and whoever scores first in the first OT wins. If nobody then it goes to a second and third and so on, but I'm sure there'll be one winner at the end of regulation. Colts 24 Bears 17

There cannot be no tie, but overtime, but now you want a nice Super Bowl game since you brought that up, how about having this Super Bowl game go into ovetime and let it ride another two hours with no score...thats a GAME

No it can't, it will go into Sudden Death OT and 15 minute quarters just like Playoffs. They will play as many as they need. Although none have even gone into OT if I am not mistaken.
