then shouldn't 52 weeks (one year) should be equal to 13 months not 12? Cause everyone says that pregnancy is ten months not nine, so isn't our yearly calendar 13 months? Then what month would christmas be in?

You are pregnant for 40 weeks or 9 months. If someone insists that they are pregnant for 10 months, have them name the 10 months that they are pregnant.

For the purposes of rounding, we say that a month has four weeks, but we know that that’s not the case because that would mean that all months have 28 days and the only month that does that is February.

So going at it the other way…..

Pregnant for 10 months at 30 days a month is 300 days /7 days a week = 42.87 weeks.

It is more medically acceptable to measure a woman's gestation period in terms of weeks rather than months because not every month is equal in terms of length. Months have different days (31, 30, 28 & sometimes 29), # of weeks, etc.

Think of it this way, if every month had EXACTLY four weeks, then every month would have only 28 days. But since there are more than 28 days in every month except February, some months extend past 4 weeks.

So, while a woman can be pregnant for 9 full months, she can also be pregnant for 40 weeks.

I never answered your question prior to this. You asked yesterday why people were being mean when you asked this question repeatedly. All I did was tell you good job for trying to help but post these questions on another section. You need to review past posts before accusing answerers of false/conflicting information.

there are more weeks in some months. Christmas is still considered in December dont worry. Really whos to say u have to celibrate any holiday on the day everyone is doing it. Dont people have surprise B-day partys some times on other days then their actual Bday?! U could have Christmas in July if u want to. its ur life.... do what u want. U could even do the 13 month thing and just make up another month. I could care less

40 weeks does not equal 10 months.
52 weeks does equal 12 months.

52/12 = 4.3 weeks in 1 month

You deliver at the end of your 9th month of pregnancy.

Um, pregnancy (40 weeks) is 10 lunar months not normal months. There are roughly 4.333 weeks to a month not four weeks bang on like a lunar month. Divide 40 by 4.333 and you'll get 9.
52 divided by 4.333 is near enough 12

Hope that helps

If you think about it months aren't only 28 days or 4 weeks, they are actually 30 or 31 days except for February. That's where the extra days and weeks come in.

Some months have more weeks then others thats why they count in weeks not months. Your pregnant 40 weeks witch if you average your months at for weeks is right, but some months have more weeks.

When they say a pregnancy is nine months, they mean nine calendar months. The fourty weeks count, is in lunar months.

Ten months (fourty weeks) = lunar months
Nine months = calendar months
