Most games designed for earlier version fo Windows can be made to work with Windows XP. If you right click on an icon that points to a program and select, you will normally see a tab called "Compatiblity". You can go to that tab and set it to run in program using an earlier version of Windows. XP has special settings that then allow it to run that program in a Windows 95, 98, etc. like mode.

Generally they do. Sometimes you need to check 'make compatible for windows blah edition', or you have to download a patch to get them working though.

It varies on a case by case basis. Many do, some will not. You'll just have to try and see how it goes.
