Weight is a FORCE, like between your shoes and the floor. You can measure that force (or any force) with a spring scale.

F=ma

Mass is the measure of how much material an object has. Weight is the force that is exerted upon an object by any acceleration, not just gravity as others have answered. Thus, you feel your weight increase if you are accelerating in an airplane. Likewise, you would feel less weight if you were in free fall and accelerating.

A person in space will be weightless but they will still have mass.

Mass is the amount of space an object or something takes up.Weight is the measurement of the pull of gravity on an object.Mass is the same anywhere in the universe,because an object will always take up the same amount of space wherever it is.Weight will vary because of how strong a planet's( or any other heavenly body) gravitational pull is.This is why astronauts have to wear heavy space suits on the moon....so they won't float away because of their nearly weightless bodies, as opposed to being on earth where you can wear bathing suits and not float away.
