I am 31 weeks pregnant and every once in a while, maybe once a day so far, I feel this shooting pain in my stomach. Is that a Braxton Hicks contraction, or something to be concerned about? This is my first child, so I have NO idea what a contraction should even feel like.

well with braxton hicks contractions can be described as tightening in the abdomen that comes and goes. These contractions do not get closer together, do not increase with walking, do not increase in how long they last and do not feel stronger over time as they do when you are in true labor. So if it comes and goes then it is braxton hicks contractions.

Duh....

You're 31 weeks pregnant
You're having shooting pains on a regular basis
You don't know if you should be concerned

YOU ARE ASKING US WHAT YOU SHOULD DO?????

Please call your doctor!!!

I don't mean to be rude, but isn't it obvious that you should be seeking Professional, Medical help to answer your question.

If you can't afford the money to see a doctor, call the hospital and ask for the "Ask A Nurse" line. It's FREE "professional" help/advice.

Please, just do it.
