No, it's not that I hate being honest, it's that people don't seem to have respect for the fact that I am honest. I have never been a good liar, and there are times when that seems to backfire on me somehow, which is not the way things should be.

When I'm honest, it's because I choose to be honest, so, no, I don't hate being honest. It's when I'm silent rather than speaking up honestly that I have push & pull inside: should I or shouldn't I have?

There's a letter-writing rule called the "24 hour rule", that if you write something in honest anger, or something very revealing, wait 24 hours before you re-read it and mail it - you may change your mind, with honest better feelings remembered, and save pain - perhaps that would be good guidance for one's mouth.

Are we confusing honesty with shooting one's mouth off without considering all aspects of a situation (so time consuming and difficult to even be aware of)? Or the honesty of being a well-researched, thoughtful speaker to a point of contention?

Do you mean when like a teacher reassigns a homework the class already did and even asks, "Did I already assign this?" and the whole class says no. But then the teacher asks YOU just to make sure and you have to lie to the teacher's face or get the entire class in trouble.. hmm, yeah it does get annoying.

But, you know what, I wouldn't trade my honesty and conscience just to not "hate" it. Obviously if you're asking this question, then this is how you think. Be thankful with what you have, because believe me, it's nothing to be ashamed of! Keep exercising your honesty and one day, you'll see, it'll shine through and make everything right! peace.

Nope, I like being as honest as possible. Doesn't mean that all tact and diplomacy efforts are wasted. You can be honest without hurting people, you just need a firm grip on vocabulary.

Yes, but the damage is usually done by then.
I tend be brutally honest at (apparently) some of the wrongest times.

Yeah, especially if you know you're the only that is going to tell the truth. It really makes you look like you're the one in the wrong.
