why do some girls wear so much makeup?

every day i see girls wearing thick makeup, fake lashes thick black eyeliner above the lash line and in the rim of there eyes,Thick mascara, loads of blush,dark eye shadows. you can see there lipliner and there sticky lip gloss ewwwwww it looks so bad personly all i wear is a little cover up stick and clear lip gloss. do you think girls go way to far with the makeup?

I answer this question from personal experience. In HS i use to wear foundation, cover up, blush, eyeliner, lipliner, eyeshadow and sometimes glitter on my chest. I did it because i had alot of pimples and dark circles, I also "thought" i looked pretty. Noone really said anything i guess because they were being nice, i had many guy friends too and nothing really would make me leave my makeup. One day i decided to just wear foundation and blush and someone told me "wow i can finally see your FACE!" i was sooo embarrassed. When i began college i decided since im going to be in a new state no1 really knows me i will wear eyeliner and THATS IT 4 years later im still just wearing eyeliner. It was a crazy phase i went through and i didn't need any makeup after all.

Personal the ones that answered saying because they want to become sluts need to grow up bad! Some that don't wear makeup are sluts! Anyway it varies with a lot of girls, I think starting out young some just do it for fun, they see their g/f do it so they do. Others have low-self esteem and don't know themselves so they hide behind that make-up. Not trying to sound mean but a lot NEED make-up, not so much as being not so good looking, but some people wore it so much, that w/o it they look crazy so they HAVE to put it on. It's ashame. But really there's nothing wrong with make-up as long as you don't over do it and it looks right on you. Personally I can't stand it lol. Eyeliner and lip gloss is good for me.

Their probably trying to look like a cover girl ad for perfection, and some times it takes more makup than another person.
Every person has an idea of what they would like and everyone has their own tastes.
I too know a girl that wears a lot of make up because she has OCD disorder this type of girl has to do everything to perfection in order to feel good about herself,even though she would probably look better with no makeup at all.

Hi Katie this is a great question. I am a guy and it drives me crazy how some girls where so much make up. I believe that with the media, tv, pier pressure that young girls and even when they become woman in their 20's they feel that they are not good enough unless they feel beautiful. It is a false sense of security that they give themselves when the fall into this trap within the group of friends that fuel this behavour.

The really need to like themselves for what they believe in not what their friends want. I think that if they just took the chance and were themselves their true friend would like them for who the are, not how good of a artist with make up.

In our society how one looks has gone to far. It is more important if you really think about it how you are in the brain, and heart department than how good looking you are.

Young girls are so worried about attracting the opposite sex it is like war paint to them. They go overboard in saying hey look at me, I am wild, so I must be wild in other areas. Yes some boys like this, but they are not the best boys for you.

Every girl is different and some just so happen to preffer wearing alot of makeup just as others dont. I believe that makeup inhances your features to some extent. But when you overdue the makeup with the whole fake stuff then thats when you got to take a step back and realise its not really you. Alot of girls were alot of makeup because of insucurity reasons, some people feel like there worth something when they were it like people will accept them more, its just the way society is today. If you turn on the t.v and you watch any video you will see that alot of those girls who were alot of makeup are considered hot and sexy by guys. Its just a phase just like everything else. But wether some girls like to wear alot of makeup or not it shouldnt be that much of a concern. People are allowed to have the right to do what they feel makes them happy and if wearing a tone of makeup does then let it be. Personally I like to wear lipgloss eyeliner and foundation but that is it. Others well a little bit more but hey we cant stop them so... who cares!!

Obviosly they do not have another older and wiser female to help them out. They are just trying to look their best by trying to immitate what they see in magazines, and possibly they watch make-up artist's on TV put make-up on models like that before a fashion show without realizing that's an editorial look. If you're in the position to help try and find a way to help these young women rather than ridicule them . You'll make some young girls day and you'll be suprised how good it can make you feel. I work in the fashion industry and try and help our young fashion victims enter adult hood with some style. Believe me it feels better to help them than the cheap laugh you get by making fun of them!

Most girls follow after a model's look or go for a certain look like "Goth" or really don't understand that makeup is suppose to accent your features and bring out your beauty.
So, yes, a few girls do go overboard with makeup. Whereas your cosmetics salesgirl would disagree as they tell us that foundation and heavier make up protects from UV and so on.
I prefer, like you to wear only a minimum amount.

There are lots of reasons. Some girls started glopping on a lot of make up when they first started wearing it and, now they're scared to put on less. Others do it for the attention. Then there's the girls who know that they NEED all that make up to look decent. A lot of girls don't know HOW to put on make up so they just put on too much.

Personally, I'd rather look at an ugly girl with makeup who looks okay, than an ugly girl with no make up who looks horrible.
