I tried removing it under 'Add/Remove' programs but it is not listed under there. I want it completely gone.

I also looked under task manager. But it gives no 'remove' option. Please help!!!

You can remove Windows Messenger from Windows

1 Go to Control Panel --> Add Remove Programs
2 Click the "Add/Remove Windows Components" button on the left side.
3 Scroll down the "Components" Box until you see "Windows Messenger"
4 Uncheck Windows Messenger.
5 click Next>

You may need your original Windows CD.

Under "add/remove" its listed in the section "additional windows components". you can remove it from there. Another option is to unselect it on "default access applications"
You cant remove the file without messing up the system but can stop it from running.
If you are referring to "MSN Messenger" that's the one which can be uninstalled. Windows messenger not as its part of the system.
There are a couple utilities out there to get rid of it, anyway, google for them.

Task manager wouldn't delete it. I'm not sure if you can. It's one of those tricky programs that Microsoft puts on with Word and Powerpoint and everything else. I think the only way to delete it is to remove 'Microsoft Office' from your computer.

It's part of windows. You can't remove it (at least not without messing up windows).

Why do you want to get rid of it?
