I agree.. these things could happen any hour, minute, or second.. I think that the actors are old enough to know what's actually going on and what and what not to do. I understand the conflict here with different people having their own opinions but this movie looks really good and it shows everyday life situations. Therefore, I think that this movie would be good for appropiate ages that are mature enough to watch the movie.

I didn't know about this movie but I think that it is wonderful that she has the strength to play this role. I know the article questions whether it is ethical for a child actor to portray sexual situations but this is not a SEXUAL situation. Rape is a VIOLENT situation. Rape is about power, not love or lust.

Anyway, on the common sense tip, who else would play a 12 year old rape victum but a twelve year old?

this has been discussed for months now. Dakota is highly intelligent and knows the risk of being a good actress. Her parents are right there with her, I don't think any 12 yr old could play this part. I mean ANY rape scene NO matter the age is hard to watch.

When I watched Boys dont cry during the scene when hilary swank was analy raped I cried my eyes out and shes an adult.

rape happens in our society unfortunatley, cant hide it

I think the movie will be good

It's called Hounddog and stars Dakota Fanning. Fanning plays a troubled 12-year-old girl, Lewellen, who is raped by an older boy. Taking place in the 1960s American South (the film is being shot in North Carolina), Lewellen finds solace through the music of Elvis Presley. I believe that Lewellen goes on to terrorize other people.

Of course, this film has garnered a lot of controversy. It seems quite dangerous for a real 12-year-old girl to act out something as horrific as a rape scene. Think back to Linda Blair from "The Exorcist." As an adult, she tells of the mental and physical anguish and damange she suffered because of the horrific scenes she filmed at such a young age.

There has been a great deal of debate on this film. I'm not sure how I feel about it - I know I would never alow my daughter to play a part like this.
