the nfl sucks and needs to change quick. i am tired of all the rules that help the offense and hurt the defense. qb's cant get hit anymore, defenses cant hit like they used to, basically the offense is a bunch of little girls nowadays. i guarantee if this was the old nfl, the colts would not be close to as good as they are now.

The rules were put in place to help promote scoring. The rules changed in the early 70's when three or four teams, lost QB's to late hits. It reduced the league to 3 yards and a cloud of astroturf. But its just not the QB's, the Recievers cant even be touched after 5 yards.

I bet you wouldn't be whining about such things if your team's franchise QB had gotten leveled by the likes of Warren Sapp or someone like that. I admit, the discretion of the refs is a bit "touchy feely" at times, but the QB is relatively unprotected when it comes to blindside hits being late, or the pocket breaking down and etc. I realize that anyone at any position can be seriously hurt, but there are rules to protect them as well as the QB in given situations, so i wouldn't complain about it too much if I were you.

It is frustrating and I absolutely agree that they need to revisit how roughing the passer is applied....I think there needs to be a 15 yard penalty and a 5 yard penalty depending on the severity..similar to how they differentiate between roughing the kicker and running into the kicker....but you have to remember that today you have linebackers bigger than lineman were 20 years ago who run 4.4 40s and 225lb safeties....Did you see Urlacher last weekend seccessfully covering a wide out?....I mean seriously, a 260lb linebacker covering a wide out....unfortunately as good as technology is I think the league recognizes that the players are getting bigger and faster qucker than the technolgy to adequately protect players is progressing.

Consistency is all I would like to ask! During the Playoffs it was like there were different policies! Especially when it comes to what is and what is not Pass interference!
Someone else brought up a GREAT idea.
This next Weekend should have the loosing teams(Barely) playing it out between themselves!
Considering how close the Playoffs were, it would be like adding two more Super bowls!
Or, in this case, not as Super Bowls---can anyone believe the money hungry dorks have not done this yet?

The rules about touching the QB's is just like the rules about defensive backs touching receivers.....The NFL wants more passing in the games because it brings about more excitement and more scoring. I thought their TV ratings were really good, but I guess they want more viewers.
I agree with ya....QB's these days might as well be wearing a red jersey like they do in practice.

That's crazy! I watched the game the other day between the AFC Champion Colts and N.E. Patriots. There was one play towards the end of the game where some N.E. player came close to hitting Manning but didn't. He was still called for the 15 yards! On the other hand, you had a circumstance where a Pittsburgh Steeler fell into Carson Palmer's knee in a playoff game last year and nearly ended Plamer's career if it weren't for knee surgery!

I agree on the qb sissy rules need to be changed, but it probably wont because those rules were made to benefit the owners not the quarterbacks... The rules were put into place to protect owners investments in the high paid quarterback...

Blame Troy Aikman and Steve Young for that. Those fragile quarterbacks kept getting concussions. Since they were so over payed the owners did want to lose their investment and implemented the rule for "saftey" concerns
