Nope, didn't forget what to say, I put the hmmm..there to save the spot where I was typing, ie..first post, so I could go on and finish the post.

Some of the things from Star Trek are in use today.

We all remember their computer in the orgional Star Trek. The one with the square disks for information storage, right? Well, seems we've been using them for years...we called them the
3 1/2 inch quarter floppy.

Star Trek had Antimatter engines. A few years ago it was announced on the radio that scientists had created the first Antimatter in their lab. Unfortunately, the lab didn't take it too well. It's a start. And apparently the scientists survived to tell the story, or it wouldn't have been on the radio.

Someone said they heard that the transporter was in the works years ago, but I've yet to find information on that one just yet.

Most people remember those cute little Tribbles in the Orgional Star Treks "The Trouble With Tribbles". In that episode, there was a grain called "quadrotriticale". Now, if I remember correctly, triticale is a real grain used today.

As for what I'd like to be, Vulcan or Klingon more than likely.

Just to add to what Voice said: our current-day cell phones are nothing but communicators, sick bay equipment has now been integrated into most hospitals (the readouts); I once read an article that talked about how many inventions, gadgets, etc., had come about because of Star Trek, most of which were used on the space shuttle. If this were S/T now? I'd probably be a hostess on Raisa - the pleasure planet. Now that's how you retire.
