Well 100 years really wasn't that long ago - 1907. We weren't cavemen at that time. More like attending garden parties, riding bicycles the kind with the big wheel in front and playing tennis if you were rich.

However it was tougher if you weren't The stock market was falling and this caused a financial panic. Only 8% if people had electricity in thier homes. The average annual wage was $897.00 and a loaf of bread cost 5 cents. The average life expectancy was 45.9 years for men 49 years for women.

Since time repeats itself and 'the man' constantly keeps you from the truth, I will tell you. I was very similar to what life will be like in 25 years, with life revolving around the years 17 and 85 in odd even year patterns. So to answer your question, ask me again in 25 years. If I am still araound.

As far as clothes and shoes? Much more modest, for both sexes.
From all the photos I've seen, and hearing my Victorian-born Grandmother relate stories, I would say people took more pride in their conduct, and it did reflect in how they would present themselves. Speaking for myself, I would MUCH rather see a woman dressed in long dresses than the little paltry threads they wear now. I know the shoes left alot to be desired when it came to comfort.

I could only guess, but I feel lazy, so I won't force my imagination. Your guess is as good as anyone's.
