The divorce rate is 50% so you have a 50% chance of having a successful marriage. And mine is pretty darn successful :o). We have been marrried six years so far and darn its been good so I would rather have those six years than have an attitude of "i am not going to get married because it could fail". As far as cheating goes, I am not sure your stats are that accurate, however, people cheat in realtionships whether they are married or not, so are you never going to have any relationship because you are afraid your partner might cheat on you?

You are aware that the "50% of all marriages fail" tag line is false, aren't you? It is complete rubbish.
Actually it is probably around 34% or 1/3 of all marriages end in divorce. See links.
People get married because they want to and hope burns eternal.

My Wife and I have been married for 11 years and we are fine :O)
Sure we have our problems but we are best friends and we always work it out. Marriage is awesome !!! I got married right after high school and my wife is from Puerto Rico and believe me, I am so happy we got married !!! Don't pay attention to the surveys and polls and percentages. Focus on all the couples that have been married for years and years and are still happy.

Because there is always the chance that you can beat the odds. Because people still want and want and want. Because of religious reasons, because of so called moral reasons, because its legal, because of the presents they stand to get, because why the hell not?
