I good friend was diagnosed with breast cancer after she learned she was pregnant with her third child. She has had some treatments during the pregnancy but now has given birth (1 month premature) to a healthy baby. She now has the newborn as well as her two todlers to care for on top of her treatments.

What she needs right now is help especially at night for the babys feedings. She needs to get some rest while undergoing her treatments. She has considered a nurse but she cannot afford it. My wife and I as well as others are trying to assist where we can.

Has she applied for SSI? My son was able to receive it while on treatment (he is now 5 yrs old). What about Medicaid? (once again my son was eligible. even if your friend can't get it, her kids might be able too). WIC?

Have her find the social worker at her hospital for help with applying for aid. They will also have many good ideas.

Help? She has you....doesn't she have family? Husband? What kind of help? Chemo is hard enough without having 3 kids at the same time, but I'm not sure what you're asking. Babysitting? Day care? She should check with her hospital. Some have day care while you are getting chemo. she should also talk to her oncologist's office. The office staff will be able to help her with a support group.
