I finished my period a little over a week ago and ended up getting really sick (vomiting and nausea). I just started the pill about a month and a half ago and haven't had any adverse symptoms from it, no spotting or menstrual interference. Because I was sick for close to a week, I haven't taken my birth control and began spotting yesterday. Is it normal to experience spotting from coming OFF of the pill?

Yes. Your body is used to having that hormone there, so you've disrupted the artificial environment you've created by taking the pill.

You probably should not start your pill till your next regular (natural) cycle. In the mean time, us back up birth control.

Yes. It mess up your cycle too. Keep an eye on it and call your doctor if these symptons don't decrease.
Hope you feel better soon.
