I am an experienced keeper and had 5 burmese pythons that over the years turned into old men and woman and are no longer with me. Its been over a year now and I thought I would take on a snake that someone is looking to rehome.

I have a lot of experience and plenty of space so if its a 'biggin' then there would be a room converted.

I can also collect. I dont like the idea of purchasing one from a pet shop as I don't belive in the trade of animals - hence rehoming someone who needs a home.

Thanks

Hi sprinkle

I appreciate your answer but I can afford to keep a snake, this is certainly no problem. The reason I have put free is that I advertised on a site a while ago and got absolutley inundated with reptile traders trying to sell various snakes. Also, if someone is willing to give one as free then this also rules them out as an illegal trader selling snakes that have been imported illegally. I have worked for a rescue centre for many years and have been involved in cases where this has happened and innocent unknowing people were buying a 'pet snake' that had infact been imported and was caught from the wild.

Also, with regards the cost - I have recently spent over £400 on a viv and set up for the new arrival so really, cost is no problem.

Thanks

Sorry to misinterpret your question, but the only free snakes are those in their natural environment. By natural I mean in the type of place they would be in, if humans never interfered with them.
I appreciate you dislike the trade in animals, but am alarmed somewhat that you don't wish to pay for the snake, as it suggests you can't afford to keep the snake.

Sorry, but I prefer animals in their natural environment, and don't like them being passed from human to human, as if humans can own animals.
