Men's responses should be removed from here..... unless they're "he/shes"
What do they know about vaginas or their care? Those are NOT informed opinions.

I have actually had this question answered by a professional. I used to wash the outside as well as the inside of my vagina, and even though I used a special shampoo, it determined a mycosis because I did it 3-4 times a day. Douching, and doing it often, affects the intimate flora and can cause various bacteria to form.
It is recommended to use a special soap, or baby shampoo (MUST be PH neutral) for the outside of your vagina, but you should also clean the inside every so often (not more than once every two days) - but only with water. If you have intercourse, it is recommended to wash after with water as the sperm is acidic and may cause irritations. If you don't aggress your vagina by douching too often, and try as much as you feel it's hygienic and healthy to let it clean itself, then you shouldn't have any problems and feel clean all the time.
Hope this answer helped.

Douching is not necessary at all. A woman's vagina is a self cleaning organ with its own secretions. Douching can actually irritate your body secretions which can also welcome infections. Reason why, because your vagina contain healthy bacteria which fights off bad bacteria that causes infections.
Suggestions: If you are sensitive to certain soap brands, try feminine masengill products. I believe they have it in a soap formula, more like a body wash. It also comes in powders, liquid gels, etc.. They're especially used for cleaning the feminine area. You can find it at your local Walgreens, CVS Pharmacy, Target, Walmart & other convience stores.

Soap and water is all you need as the vagina is a self-cleaning organ - meaning that the lining sloughs off and makes itself new again regularly. The mucous in your vagina also helps carry out bacteria and dead skin cells to help keep the pH balance regular. An occasional douche is fine as long as you're not pregnant - maybe once right after your period each month.

Just drink plenty of water and use a feminine wash that isn't too irritating. Douche depletes your feminine area of much needed lubricants and only makes a bad problem worse.

Ugghhh, yeah douches are old fashioned and probably invented by men who have no awareness of the real feminine body.
Anyway, your body generally creates its own natural bacterias to prevent bad things from happening down there and your anatomy is amazingly set up to naturally rinse everything when you pee.
you should shower after sex, powder is probably more harm than good. If anything rinse with a spray bottle of somesort and keep it dry - as well breathable cotton underware are best.

My feminine area is in the living room seated in front of the TV.
I do not have a feminine area. Sorry.
You might could take your wife down the the Coin Car Wash. Don't know of the safety part but, for $.75, using the magic wand as a crevice tool, you could clean her out real good, switch over the rinse, rinse her real good and she would be squeekie clean and ready to go.
Not to change the subject.

i usually wash it with warm water without soap because I'm afraid the pH balance in soap is not suitable to our feminine area. and i always change my pantie at least 2-3 times a day to keep this area clean, and if you're on period you have to wash it more often.

All I ever do is shower. The only time I've had a problem is if something is wrong. The reason douche are unsafe is because the rinse away the natural balance in the vagina, this can cause yeast infections and all sorts of stuff.Good luck

The vagina is a self-cleaning system, but it doesn't hurt to just wash around the area with a gentle soap. Avoid putting soap in it, though, because it could get infected.
So just wash around it and rely on your body for flushing out any other bad stuff.

that's extra desirable on your well-being to not clean the vagina with something. a splash water, perhaps a splash cleansing soap yet ideally not something. The vagina has constructive micro organism and retains itself clean. It could desire to safeguard a undeniable pH to maintain an infection at bay. you will predispose your self to infections and yeast with the help of utilizing douches or the rest.
