You'll never know if you don't try!

Great friendships are based on honesty right?

Just test the waters a little... Try not to put the idea to her in a way that is going to put her in a pressure situation (ie. go out with me or I'l never talk to you again.)

Maybe just ask her if she's ever thought about you in a boyfriend kind of way because you think she's awesome & wondered if that kind of relationship could ever work between you.

This way...there's less pressure on her & you're giving her some space to think about it (if she hasn't already).

There is no reason why your friendship should be affected if you handle it the right way. The more comfortable you make her feel talking about it the less awkwardness will follow.

Just remember that whatever her answer is, how you respond is going to set the tone of your friendship.

If you think there's a chance she could like you now, or in the future, go for it!

be careful here. I'd try to figure out whether she has some liking towards you first. second, try to remain calm. crushes have a bad way of completely taking over your brain and you might do something foolish if you don't try to stay relaxed.

if she says yes, great.

if you ask her and she says no, try to act like it doesn't hurt. it probably will but nonetheless...then keep a distance for awhile until you are 'emotionally' ready to just be friends again.

Be careful.. think about what might happen if it doesn't work out between the two of you.
I'm sure that there have been plenty of friends who tried to date, it didn't work out, and they remained friends,
but speaking from personal experience -
I tried to date my best friend, I realized that we were better off friends about 2 months into it, and we haven't spoken in about 2 years.

I think you should try. What happens if she feels the same way towards you and you don't do anything. Think of all the time you will waste just being friends. And if she doesn't feel the same way, at least you will know.

Normally, I'd say go ahead. However, my friend dated her best friend, and it ended up in a nasty break up, and now he's out sabatoging her and her friends. If you want to, go ahead. HOWEVER, when you do break up, keep her friends out of it. Move on from her when you do.
