Voodoo, Santeria, Candomble, and Umbanda are all African based belief systems. Each has its own twist on the original beliefs that were brought out of Africa during the slave trade. Just like the Native Americans, each tribe had their own beliefs but due to being banded together with other tribes their beliefs melded together and also drew in some christian/catholic parts that made it somewhat more acceptable to their owners.
