Do your civic duty and get it over with. The only thing you'll be able to do is postpone it, but you'll have to go in.

Make sure you respond, because if you don't you can get a citation for contempt and you don't want to mess with that sh*t.

I was called for jury duty once, and it wasn't that I didn't want to go, but I had college classes every day at that time. So I asked to be deferred until the summer, which they gave me with no issues. And then I was never summoned in the summer! If you go to school, you could try that.

You will need to go to the summons but don't bring the form. When asked to put personal info on it like SSN and address, etc, say you protest being compelled to give private info to defendants.

I was involved in a criminal trial where the defendant sat there and looked at our jury sheets even after voir dire, after jury selection. One of his thug friends made a death threat on a witness which the DA had to disclose to us. I protested my info being given to the defendant and asked the judge to cite me the law that gave him that right. He could not tell me, I was dismissed, and the trial was declared a mistrial

If you call in sick they will rescedule. Sooner or later you will have to go to court. Once your there it will depend on the Judge. There will be a set of questions once you are in the Jury box, if you know any of the parties? They will ask questions on your personal life, work watch and read. Then they will ask if you can judge the testomony of certain peaple imparcially. If your answer is negative usally they well discharge you.

You can get off if you are the only person at your workplace that is qualified to do your job or your can even send a letter stating that you do not speak or read/write english... but that might be a little dishonest since you did send in a question here.

you are not getting out of it, unless your layed up in a hospital. even then, when you got better, you would still get called. Just go and do it. It is only about a month out of your life.
