If you want to be nice get something you like and give it to him saying" I saw this and had to get it for you and was thinking how good it will look on you .so I had to just get it for you." why make a big thing out of nothing . and if he likes you he will enjoy having something you got him.

well, ask him why he chose that earring. maybe if he gave you a backstory, you could learn to accept it. if you heard it, yet still don't like it. tell him you're not crazy about it. don't tell him so he could stop wearin it. it's HIS earring, and he could do whatever he wants with it.
