True happiness, as distinct from the empty pursuit of pleasure, seems to be found in places that our materialism doesn't anticipate and conversely what is of value materially is often ultimately unsatisfying.

Yes because in end they realize anyone can easily get what they have if the person have enough mones. However not anyone can accomplish something difficult.

Think about this, which would you rather to have? Your own airplane that many other rich people have. Or a Nobel Prize that no moneys could buy?

Those who accomplish more things tend to be happier than those who have more moneys.

My child then was three years old! He used to play with lot of toys. But sooner than the usual he would be bored to touch the same toys again for even the next day! We used to buy a lot of new toys and play things for him. I used to wonder about the human mind, how trivial it is, to change on and on for other more material things!

Science produced more colourful toys not only for kids but for us, we- the adults too! The more colourful, attracting EXTERNAL material comforts! In the materialistic era of consumerism we go on dumping so many colourful materials at home. Thus, by acquiring the same, we believe that we can attain the peace and happiness!

BUT, THE THING IS WE ATTAIN ONLY THE EXTERNAL MATERIAL COMFORTS BUT NEVER EVER THE INNER PEACEFULNESS!

Yes, for example we all are watching TV at home singly or together! Though, our physical body is present here, we live psychologically in some other world with the TV actors only! We are comfortable but not peaceful with our family members, sharing and caring for each of our welfare!

Yes, TV, the chatter box or Idiot box, has spoiled the family relationship altogether!

Take, the cell phone. No one talk to the nearer one at home and streets, but with the far away people hours together!! We human beings lost our fragrance of love with our beloveds!

We live outlandish in some other world; impractical, and unspiritual. That is why we long more for Material Accumulations and scientific comforts but never for the Inner poise and the real calmness!

MATERIAL ACCUMULATIONS AND COMFORTS ARE NOTHING MORE THAN THE COLOURFUL DIRTY COLLECTIONS OF A PSYCHOPATH ON THE STREET ONLY!

Ofcourse, materials give temporary comforts; but never the True eternal peace!

The peace and calmness always arising from within, without any materialistic external support!

Western Materialism if combined with Eastern Spirituality will sure bring joy and peace of mind. Materialism alone will always want more. Eastern spirituality says ,' Put in all your efforts, Accept the result as God`s Gift.'

I get real happiness when I share or use my materialistic wealth or objects with those that don't have them. Equally my children are happy to give their pocket money to a child in another country to feed and school him rather than spend it on sweets, comics etc. I think if you are happy to give a percentage away to charity and be generous to your friends and others around you, you will find some meaning to your materialism.
