He will probably start internal exams around week 37 or 38. Unless you had signs of early labor, there is no reason for them to check until you are full term

Usually docs will begin internal exams (to check the cervix for effacement and dilation) at 36 weeks. However, some doctors do not check until you are having contractions (whether they be Braxton Hicks or real contractions). If you are wanting to know, ask your doc to do an internal exam to check your cervix. I wouldnt ask now, since nothing usually happens until a few more weeks...however at 36 weeks you shoudl start going to the docs every week (instead of every 2 weeks)...so they are preparing for more 'change' in your body and will be watching you more closely and checking for things.

I had my first internal exam to check my cervix the other day at my doc appt. It's an easy procedure and it wasnt too bad at all to deal with.
Good luck, and congrats!

The doctor will usually do it at 38 weeks, I am scheduled to see my doctor on Friday and I will be 38 weeks then and she - at 37 weeks they did some culture to make sure that I did not have any bacteria or anything like that. But as you know one is ready to have the baby, and not be considered pre-term - from 38 and over. So you still have a couple of more weeks to go.

The last couple of weeks seem to be an eternity - but there is not much that you can do but wait. Good Luck.

My doctor was checkin my cervix everyweek from 33 weeks until I gave birth but I also went into preterm labor and they had to stop it so I am not really sure when they start checking it at your appointments but I would imagine anytime now.

Usually when you start going in to see him every week, instead of every 2 weeks.. unless you start having complications, or early labor signs, then he will check you to make sure that you aren't in premature labor. Some women know how to check themselves, having been pregnant so many times before..

Doctors avoid checking the cervix until you are around 34 weeks as the examination itself can actually bring on preterm labor. I'll bet'cha he'll check you on Friday.

that's uncomfortable, they do no longer stick their total hand in there - yet whether they did, I could desire to wish you're waiting for that feeling on account which you're approximately to push a infant out from there! it extremely is not mandatory for them to study in case you're dilated remarkable now - in case you are able to tell them you're able to fairly no longer have them do it. that's the reason I have been given a midwife and skipped the wellbeing facility. they simply verify you for dilation if its completely mandatory (which grow to be as quickly as) considering that's invasive and uncomfortable.

He'll probably start to check soon. I think my midwife started checking me at 36 weeks, but it's been a year, so I could be wrong. I know they didn't start checking until I started having weekly appointments. Good luck!
