you are most likely to put excessive wear on the clutch, but you shouldn't damage the transmission. It's always best to learn to drive a stick shift car on someone else's car (per the sociopath's manual). I used to rent shift cars to teach friends, but you can't get stick shift rental cars easily anymore-- I wonder why?

You will probably hurt the clutch but I doubt you will blow up the trany. Practice on a less powerful and lighter car until you get good.

Keep practicing and don't run it too hard. It should be fine unless you try horsing around in it. Take it easy until you get use to it.

If anything, more likely you'll burn up the clutch, which is cheaper and easier to replace.
