Corrections to what part of history? I think you have left something out in your "question."

Perhaps you meant the history OF the corrections system? Where? In the US or elsewhere? Then you can start by searching for "prison(s) reform" or "corrections system" and other key phrases that will give you the historical basis for that country.

Make sure you organize your essay into 3 or so major points and mention these in your opening and conclusion as well. Your research information should clump into these areas naturally.

Remember also that you don't have to state EVERYTHING on the subject, just what is pertinent to what you are discussing.

Good luck!

on the history the corrections system? 12 pages? well, research papers usually take months to prepare, but if you abolutly dedicate yourself you can do it. I suggest you prepare to do a lot of quoting! You absolutly must write an outline & a thesis statement before you start or else your paper is going to be all over the place. Once you get your outline & thesis statement in order the rest of the paper should look less daunting. also hit your local library. google is great, but librarians are better for helping you get really relevant info. plus there's old newpapers and articles you can print. bring lots of money so you can make lots and lots of copies. be sure to copy the bibliography info out of the books too or youll be really upset later. after youve gathered all your reference material get your outline out, your thesis statement out, and start typing.
good luck

make your handwriting as small as possible and avoid mistakes because they'll take more room and you could make the lines a little closer to each other.
