I just had an abnormal pap come back and I'm supposed to call and schedul a biopsy, but I'm terrified!! I know that if I wait, there's a chance it can develop into cancer and it'll be even scarier- but I just can't get myself to make the appointment! Words of encouragement would be GREATLY appreciated.

The good news is it only hurts when it hurts. It doesn't keep hurting. It isn't much more painful than a pap smear.
Do it honey. You're probably ok, but get it over with for your peace-of-mind.

I am the biggest baby. You have to not think about it, just do it. I was lucky because my doctor made the appointment for me. I am not going to lie and say it doesn't hurt. It is very uncomfortable considering the whole position and all. But it is like a severe pinch, they took two samples when I can mine. But it is a very quick procedure and will be over quickly. It is just a little bit longer than a normal pap smear. You might take a thin pad with you because you might have some spotting and the one the give you at the clinic could be way more than you need. ... Finding out that nothing is wrong is the best thing ever.

Just talk with you doctor about everything the he is going to do, this could calm your fears ... a little. Maybe they could offer you a seditive if you nerves get the best of you. Or have someone make the appointment for you, mom, sister friend and don't go alone. The very idea that you could have cancer is the most frightening part. You will be fine.

Be like Bo,... Just do it. Good luck.

just do it - do not put it off - i felt a lump in my breast a few years ago and kept putting it off for months & when i finallly went to the doc - guess what - a rare tumor that is very fast growing - i then kicked myself for not going in right away - most procedures today are not painful, the health care professional will try to make it as comfortable as possible for you.
