Unfortunately I would have to say it is doing more harm than good. But, that is only because apparently these kids don't have someone in their home teaching them right from wrong, and what should or shouldn't be priority. In my opinion, everything starts in the home and that is what is lacking.

What people need to realize is that music is a form of entertainment. It is not meant to teach you how to live, or what you should aspire to be.

There is actually plenty of positive hip hop out there. But, that is not what is mainstream right now. And, if it were only blacks who listened to hip hop, I can guarantee it would not be as popular as it is now.

As much as heavy metal hurt white kids. The most successful hip hop stars are now making millions in legitimate business. Ice-T, Ice-Cube, Will Smith, LL Cool J, Sean Combs, Queen Latifah, Russell Simmons......etc..and the rest are in business behind the scenes. They are the real role models

It's just the entertainment business. Black students are hip enough to understand that. Who do you think they want to be? A gangbanger or a mogul like Sean or Russell?

Just ask Eminem.

The language used in hip hop harms the vocabularies of students. I have listened to songs with incorrect word useage, made-up words, etc. STudents learn to speak and write form what they hear. If all they hear is slang, what will they know? SLang!

it can be, i mean if you are constantly being told you are a d.ick sucking hoe then you are gonna believe it, mind viruses. but i was taught to not believe everything i hear, i listen to mostly hip-hop and i am not a hoe, what so ever, but little kids dont know any better, i mean it is monkey see monkey do with them!!! i listen to the beat more than anything else!!!!!

it isnt just hip-hop that ruins kids, most people wanna blame hip-hop i mean u had little girls trying to dress like britney and get their belly butoons pierced at 10!!!!!

Not too sure on this one. I just think it's a fad that doesn't help or harm anyone. But I live in a farming area not a big city area.

the hiphop the majors promote is hurting them because they glorify self destruction and drugs

the record companies wont promote the rap music that will empower them because of fear.

they want to keep them nice and ignorant

Hip hop is demeaning and demoralizing to our people.
MLK would die again if he could see what it has done to us.
