Yes it may happen but I think Americans vote for who they perceive to have the best personality rather than who would be the best for the job. Would it not be better to have a boreing aul fuddy duddy who does a great job than to have a bright sparkling all American hero type with a smile that is brighter than the sun and who kissess babies all day for camera shoots but does a horrific job as president. I wish you Americans vote very wisely at the next elections. Not because its a woman of his / her colour or because they were a great actor in their day or because they kiss babies so well. Choose wisely my friends . Dont be too visual, look deeper and see what they have to offer you and dont be drawn in by their false smiles..etc

I watch CNBC and Bloomberg. I work in finance. I have a pretty good understanding of economic issues. The folks on CNBC and Bloomberg have different opinions on individual issues and on certain stocks and bonds, but they all operate with the same basic structural view of how the economy works.

When I change the channel to C-Span, it's downright scary - it seems like none of the people on the Left and only a handful on the Right are operating with the same basic structural view that everyone on the financial networks is operating with. Many Libertarians have it but they almost never have a chance of winning and sometimes aren't even on the ballot.

I try to vote for the people, man or woman, black or white or something else, who do have that structural view or at least are advised by people who have it. That pretty much eliminates Democrats and sometimes eliminates Republicans too, but it has zero to do with race or gender. If a black woman gets up and says make the tax cuts permanent and expand free trade agreements and cap federal spending, and don't expand entitlement programs so that people are deemed to have a right to have other people pay their bills, including medical, I will vote for her in a heartbeat.

it'll be a slap in the face of republicans. got beat by a woman. I think it will end up more conservative after the primaries though. And it'll be down to two white guys by actual time. We could see a black president but he'll have to be pretty distiquished, no one got as excited when jesse jackson or sharpton ran, at least not many white people. Remember how quick dean sunk after being the lead candidate. If Obama is muslim idk and his name just sounds bad, i just don't know if he can get the soccer moms like that. And the crazy right wing forget it. Otherwise we could possibly now. Maybe still. Hillary too just has her own personal problems, too known, everybody pretty much knows all about her and her marraige, whitegate. If we had a rock solid mostly unknown like condi but a democrat. I think condi could do it but she is identified with the war and people are done with that.

Yep, it's going to happen in '08. Hillary has more money and connections than all of the other candidates, plus Bill is a big asset.

Rice? Are you serious? She is the postergirl for the Bush Administration. Chavez has a better chance of winning then her.

Yes I think so. BTW tolerant liberal you are not. I would vote for Powell in a heart beat and I think he would get votes from both sides. He is very much a realist but he also has the insight to choose his battles carefully. I think that many people feel the same way. Hillary and Obama scare me but I would not be surprised if one of them does well. The reason I don't like them is purely based on their views and what I think of their morals. Hillary attacked Obama based on his religion and drug use. That IMO is a sign of weakness and a lack of ideas.

I certainly hope so. Sooner than later! I think men's way of settling their disputes and ripping off others wealth, would not happen as frequently under women! Most have a conscious, which is more than I can say for many men and Republicans!

I think any person with the right qualifications and personality to do the job will be elected regardless of the gender/color/et all.

Sounds like a cheesy answer, but that what democracy should be about!

absolutey, and eventually we will even have a black woman President.

the first thing that needs to happen is that we have to quit thinking of ourselves as black or white, pink or brown, generally we need to overlook that we are male and female, We need to become color blind.

until we can think of ourselves as americans, just americans not mexican american, african american , jamician american, or some other ethnic background, and just be americans we have a big hurdle to get over.

we will have a woman President, in fact Edith Wilson acted as President while her Husband was sick. maybe Hillary Clinton will be the next one.

be an american first.

sure. there is not any requirement on gender, shade, or faith. A greater exciting, and unanswerable, question is: *Will* a girl, black guy, or Mormon ever be elected president of usa?
